Using The Map:

Locate Japanese onsen either by clicking or mousing over their onsen marker on the map, or by their name, included in the sidebar at the right. Windows with icons provide quick data about each onsen, hot spring, or spa, and (if available), a link will lead to a page with an onsen review and more pictures. In the list below, white links include full reviews and gray indicates the locations are listed and reviews are coming soon. Feel free to submit your favorite spot. The search feature should be self-explanatory: if you need to search for an onsen or hot spring near your location, use the pull down bar to select a radius and then type in a location in either Japanese kanji/kana or English letters. The towns and city search is dependent on Google's database of Japan, so if you get an error, try a larger city nearby or alter the spelling. Onsen close to that location will appear on the map. If you would like to know the names of the major regions of Japan, simply right click on the map (once) and a labeled, color overlay will appear. To remove it, right click again. currently includes the following onsen hot springs and spa resorts throughout Japan.
